Dr. Valerian Laval was born in Düsseldorf in 1975 and studied business administration at the University of Bayreuth. In his PhD, Dr. Laval examined the financial management of multinational manufacturing companies. He began his career at Arthur Andersen and successfully passed the professional exams as a Certified Public Accountant in the U.S.A. as well as as a tax consultant and auditor in Germany. Dr. Laval then moved to ThyssenKrupp AG, where he was the first Finance Director to play a decisive role in shaping the finance of the new stainless steel plant in the USA. Later positions took him to China as Managing Director and Site Manager to Eastern Europe. Dr. Laval is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and is particularly interested in the development of international supply chains.
